Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
22 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Spat! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
31 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fred Collins! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Collins tries to keep at a distance but Spat has taken the fight into the clinch. Collins is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Collins blocks a body shot from Spat. Spat lands with a short head shot on the inside. Collins is trying to break the clinch but Spat has him pressed against the cage. Collins blocks a body shot from Spat. Spat keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Collins's efforts to push away. A head punch on the inside from Collins fails to land. Collins escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
No luck for Spat with that takedown attempt. Spat tries to clinch but Collins is having none of it. Spat shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Collins eats them both and turns towards Spat to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Nice takedown defense from Collins. No joy for Spat on that attempt. Spat is looking to land body kicks. The fight stays on the outside here - Spat looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Spat tries to clinch but Collins moves out of range. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Collins throws a series of punches but Spat moves out of range. Collins drops Spat with a nice combination! Collins dives into Spat's guard, looking to finish!
Spat is rocked!
It looks like Jack Spat has been cut. Collins must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's one minute gone in the round. Collins postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Spat covers up, he's hurt! Collins keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Collins and the ref steps in to end the fight! Collins can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fred Collins! Fred Collins decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
