Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
35 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ash Thomas! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
30 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Antonio Davis! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thomas turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Davis just misses with a punch to the body.
Good work by Davis as he checks the leg kick. Thomas fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Davis has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. We've been informed that Davis has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Davis misses with a two punch combination.
Thomas steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Davis. Thomas throws a jab when Davis was well out of range. Davis misses with a combination
and Thomas counters with a nice leg kick. Davis misses with a straight left. Davis buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Davis lands with a nice combination. Thomas backs away looking to recover. Davis blocks a leg kick. Davis throws a shot from downtown. Thomas moves away and avoids it. Davis dips down and scores with a jab to the body. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Thomas lands a nice shot to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. A looping hook to the body misses from Davis. Thomas does a little dance to reset his feet. Davis misses with a two punch combination.
Davis scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Thomas turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Davis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Davis misses the jab. Nice defenses there by Thomas. Thomas chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Thomas. Davis looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Davis swings for the body but Thomas moves out of range.
Sloppy strikes from Davis. Those never looked like landing. Thomas avoids a punch combination nicely.
Thomas cracks Davis with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
It looks like Antonio Davis has been cut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Thomas misses with a body kick. Thomas tries a head kick but it misses.
Davis is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Thomas rather than just go for the knockout. Davis displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Thomas throws a front kick that sends Davis stumbling back into the cage. Davis looks winded! Davis misses with a two punch combination.
Thomas lands a front kick. Davis looks to score with a jab to the body but Thomas is just out of range. Thomas throws a head kick but Davis moves out of range.

Davis is still on wobbly legs! Can Thomas finish him? Thomas steps in with a hook that catches Davis right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Thomas follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Davis looks absolutely devastated.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ash Thomas! Ash Thomas retains his welterweight title! In his post fight interview, Ash Thomas started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
