Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cosmo Carboni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Menezes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Menezes has chosen Charlinho, o menino que só queria estudar - Hermes & Renato as his entrance music. Charles Menezes will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cosmo Carboni!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Charles Menezes!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carboni ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Menezes moves away.
Menezes is trying hard to land a takedown here. Carboni sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Menezes.
Carboni throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Menezes gets a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Menezes winds up and cracks Carboni with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Carboni tries to roll over but Menezes keeps him under control.

Menezes looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Carboni with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Menezes is nestled in close to Carboni, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Carboni knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Menezes on the ground.

Menezes postures up and lands a big shot to Carboni's brow.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Menezes has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Carboni is proving hard to escape from.
Menezes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Cosmo Carboni has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charles Menezes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Menezes bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Menezes shoots for a double leg takedown but Carboni sprawls well. He's pushed Menezes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Carboni lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Menezes fails with the takedown.
Menezes uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Carboni.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Carboni lands a nice looking body shot.
Menezes is breathing heavily.
Menezes tries for a takedown but Carboni sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Cosmo Carboni is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Menezes takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Carboni cracks Menezes with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Menezes looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Carboni finish him?

Menezes ducks into an uppercut from Carboni and that's knocked him out cold! This one is all over!
