Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Will Powders! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Miles Paul! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Richard Clark and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paul stuffs the takedown. Powders looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Paul is fending him off so far but Powders persists. Nope, Paul circles away and we're back to standing. Paul fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Powders looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Powders shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Powders showed some decent athleticism there. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Powders is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Paul is just riding it out for now. Powders eventually gives up the hold. Paul looks like he's trying to stand up.
Powders passes to side control. Paul wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Powders tries to advance to mount but can't. Powders tries for a kimura but Paul is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paul is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Powders is controlling him well. Powders is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Paul knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Powders is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Paul has escaped the position, nice work there. Paul is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Powders is controlling him well. Powders is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Paul is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Powders passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Paul! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Paul wants to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Powders is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Paul is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Paul flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Powders anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Paul and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Powders slips an arm under Paul chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Powders has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Powders is squeezing on Paul like an anaconda would it's prey. Paul fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Will Powders! Will Powders really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Alpha Male logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
