PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Demarco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Untaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Demarco comes to the cage accompanied by Fast Lane. Untaka has chosen Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anthony Demarco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thomas Untaka!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, David Schapiro and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Untaka darts in looking for a takedown but Demarco gets double underhooks and turns Untaka into the cage.
Demarco drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Demarco wants a takedown.
Demarco is looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anthony Demarco. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Untaka has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Demarco after a bit of a struggle.
Demarco is trying to maintain a safe position but Untaka gets an underhook and turns Demarco into the cage.

We've been informed that Untaka has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Demarco is bucking up trying to escape but Untaka cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Demarco knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Untaka on the ground.

Untaka can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Demarco is looking to escape.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Demarco is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

and Demarco counters with a three punch combo that has Untaka backing up. Untaka nods at Demarco to acknowledge the strikes.
Untaka shoots for a double leg takedown but Demarco sprawls well. He's pushed Untaka's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Untaka lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Demarco backs up against the cage.

Horrible takedown by Untaka or perhaps it was just good defense by Demarco which made him look bad.
Anthony Demarco has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thomas Untaka.

Thomas Untaka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Demarco really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Demarco tries to clinch up but Untaka circles away and keeps his distance.

Demarco closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Untaka's guard.

Demarco seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

and Demarco makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Untaka throws a nice looking combination but Demarco bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Demarco is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Untaka will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Demarco tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Demarco has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Untaka tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Demarco wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Demarco tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Demarco goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Untaka has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Demarco but great work by Untaka.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Untaka gets to mount! Demarco was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Demarco tries to hold on but Untaka pushes him away.

A close second round but Thomas Untaka will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Untaka feints a jab promting Demarco to slip. Untaka then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Demarco slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Thomas Untaka seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Demarco is rocked!
Demarco shoots in but Untaka avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Oh Demarco is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Untaka shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Demarco napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Untaka wants to lay and pray for a moment but Demarco keeps working.
Demarco seems to have got his legs back now.

Untaka throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Demarco works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Untaka thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Demarco's head.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Still in half guard, Untaka seems content to control.
Untaka thows a huge punch but Demarco dodges it nicely.

Untaka lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Demarco circles away quickly and effectively.

Untaka throws a left that rocks Demarco and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Untaka dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Demarco regain composure!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Demarco parries the strikes from Untaka easily there. Untaka is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Demarco to escape.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Untaka cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Thomas Untaka is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Untaka controlling the pace for now.
Anthony Demarco has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Demarco takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

I've got Untaka winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
