Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lunchmeat Sandwich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Merk Roop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Merk Roop has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lunchmeat Sandwich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Merk Roop!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shirou Masuda and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Roop bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Roop wants to control but Sandwich is keeping him busy.
Sandwich is trying to control Roop's posture but Roop avoids it.
Sandwich is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Roop is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Roop tries to move to mount but Sandwich blocks the move with his legs.

Sandwich makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sandwich.
Roop stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sandwich swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sandwich throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Roop escapes and throws Sandwich's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sandwich is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Roop tries to move into full mount but can't pass Sandwich's legs.

Roop is keen to just control but Sandwich is a slippery customer.

Roop jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Sandwich is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Sandwich and Roop has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Sandwich wants to get back to full guard.

Sandwich is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Roop pulls his head out easily.

Sandwich has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Roop can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Roop must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Roop is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sandwich sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Roop bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sandwich's guard.
Roop stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sandwich swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sandwich wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Roop is now in half guard.

Roop is looking for a kimura but Sandwich is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Roop to get the leverage.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Lunchmeat Sandwich wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Merk Roop showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Horrible takedown by Roop or perhaps it was just good defense by Sandwich which made him look bad.

Roop takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Roop seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Sandwich is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
