Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Dodds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Hoench (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hoench has chosen Crank it as his entrance music. Frankie Dodds has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Frankie Dodds! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Daniel Hoench! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Josh West and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dodds takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Dodds closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hoench did well to prevent Dodds getting side control. Dodds perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Dodds is trying to control the action in half guard but Hoench is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Hoench slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Dodds postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Hoench wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We're going to have a standup here because Frankie Dodds wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Dodds closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hoench to the mat! Hoench manages to get full guard. Dodds throwing strikes from guard but Hoench blocks nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dodds pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hoench is keeping the position for now. Dodds wanted to stand there but Hoench had control of the position. Dodds wants to pass the guard but Hoench is keeping the position. Dodds working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dodds looking to pass the guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Hoench bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Dodds moves out of range as Hoench throws a body kick.
Hoench lands with a kick to the ribs.
Dodds throws a head kick that misses. A head kick misses from Hoench. Hoench throws a body punch but Dodds moves out of range. Dodds feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dodds is breathing heavily. Hoench looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Hoench manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dodds manages to get himself to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dodds working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hoench doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hoench manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Hoench loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Hoench connects with a couple of short punches. Hoench working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Dodds's head. Hoench looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Hoench throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dodds works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Hoench throwing strikes from guard but Dodds blocks nicely. Hoench missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Dodds keeping full guard, as Hoench tries to pass. Dodds will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Hoench lands a couple of digs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dodds wants to sweep but no luck. Hoench is in close to Dodds's body, working some short punches and elbows. Hoench cracks Dodds with a solid left hand. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Dodds avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hoench missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Dodds avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hoench trying to control the position from guard on top but Dodds is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hoench trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Dodds working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hoench. Hoench trying to control but Dodds is working from the bottom. Dodds avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Daniel Hoench dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Hoench throws a head kick that misses. Dodds tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hoench manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Hoench tries a head kick but it misses.
Hoench throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Hoench throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Dodds closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Hoench tries to get to full guard but Dodds has control of the leg. Hoench keeps trying to improve his position. Hoench gets back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dodds wants to stand and escape but instead Hoench has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Hoench is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Dodds avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hoench stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dodds swivels though and keeps the full guard. Dodds is trying to control the position but Hoench postures up. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Hoench scoring with punches to the head and body. Dodds has momentary wrist control but Hoench slips an elbow through the middle. Hoench trying to control the position from guard on top but Dodds is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hoench loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Hoench working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Dodds's head. Hoench stands up over Dodds, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Hoench throws a strike but Dodds rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Dodds wants to pass the guard but Hoench is keeping the position. Hoench has his hands on Dodds's head, controlling the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Frankie Dodds. Dodds tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Hoench counters with a head kick that drops Dodds to the mat! Dodds scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly! Hoench throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hoench throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Dodds drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dodds wants to stand but Hoench has his arm trapped. Dodds wants to control for a moment but Hoench uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Daniel Hoench showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Dodds's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

That's one minute gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hoench accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Hoench throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dodds works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Hoench is looking to work some ground and pound but Dodds has wrist control. Hoench scoring with punches to the head and body. Hoench passes easily into side control. Nice work. Dodds taking a bit of punishment here - Hoench scoring with strikes. That's two minutes gone in the round. Hoench lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Dodds down.
Oh Dodds is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Hoench looks up at the clock and then as Dodds takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Hoench smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
A big shot lands for Hoench! That's hurt Dodds! Will he recover? Hoench fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Daniel Hoench! Daniel Hoench seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
