Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vaughn Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Steve Coleman was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Taylor feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Taylor tries to free his leg and advance position but Coleman is retaining full guard. Taylor is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Coleman can do anything to dispel that myth. Taylor advances to half guard. Taylor is looking for a kimura here.
Coleman wants to control but Taylor is keeping busy.
Taylor is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Coleman defends it well. Taylor is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Coleman still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Coleman has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
That's one minute gone in the round. Coleman tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Coleman has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Coleman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Taylor. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Taylor tries to buck Coleman off but Coleman is having none of it. Taylor gets back to half guard. Taylor actively working from the bottom here. Coleman wants to work for an arm triangle but Taylor is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Taylor slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Coleman wants to control from the top but Taylor keeps moving. Taylor really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill... Taylor has his foot on Coleman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Coleman works his way back into a safe position though. Coleman avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Taylor escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Coleman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Taylor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Coleman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Taylor is tightening it up a little... Coleman has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Coleman reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Coleman taps out! nice BJJ there by Taylor!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Vaughn Taylor!
