Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Henderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Dansen!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dansen closes this distance looking for a takedown but Henderson circles away.

Henderson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dansen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Henderson is working away from the top position though.
Henderson lands strikes from half guard.
Dansen wants to get back to his feet.
Henderson moves nicely into side control.
Dansen regains half guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Dansen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Henderson landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Dansen should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Dansen wants to get back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mark Henderson.
Dansen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Henderson drives through and clinches with Dansen against the cage.
Henderson gets underhooks to prevent Dansen's takedown attempt.

Dansen has gone for a leg lock! Henderson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Dansen's guard.

Dansen is working an open guard so Henderson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Dansen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Henderson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dansen somewhat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Dansen tries to sprawl but Henderson drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Dansen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Henderson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Henderson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Dansen enables Henderson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Dansen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Henderson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dansen's guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dansen is looking to stand up but Henderson isn't so interested in that idea.

Henderson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Dansen scores with a takedown into Henderson's guard.

Dansen is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Henderson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Henderson has escaped and now he's on top!
Henderson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Henderson throws an elbow that misses. Dansen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Henderson's guard. Nice move by Dansen!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Dansen tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Henderson defends well and Dansen ends up having to push Henderson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dansen can do anything to dispel that myth.

Henderson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Dansen keeping moving, preventing Henderson from controlling successfully.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Henderson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Henderson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

We're going to have a standup here because Mark Henderson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Henderson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Henderson is pressing down on Dansen's thigh, looking to free his foot. Dansen is holding on for now.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Henderson connects with a nice short shot to Dansen's temple.
Dansen is in trouble now - Henderson has advanced to mount!

Henderson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Dansen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Henderson looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Dansen!

Henderson lands a decent elbow from side control.
Dansen tries to bench press Henderson off him but Henderson keeps the position.

Jon Dansen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Henderson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dansen can do to turn this around?

Well Henderson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
