Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Patrick Staller! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thor Thordarsen! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thordarsen fails to land with a series of punches.
Thordarsen looking to score a takedown here. Staller is defending well but Thordarsen drives through and ends up in Staller's guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Thordarsen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Staller swivels though and keeps the full guard. Staller is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Staller takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Staller trying to control from half guard but Thordarsen is working away. Staller wants to work for an arm triangle but Thordarsen is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Staller maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Thordarsen could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Staller has cracked it and Thordarsen is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Staller!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Patrick Staller! In his post fight interview, Patrick Staller started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
