Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Allan Cannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shields is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army. Allan Cannon has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cannon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Shields's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Shields working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cannon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cannon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shields is on top in guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Shields is working to tighten his grip on Cannon's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Cannon has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Shields is really squeezing tight and eventually Cannon passes out! Shields breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

After the fight, Jake Shields was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
