Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Talivaldis Vasaris!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Skip Squint and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

French has taken the fight to the clinch.

French jumps into guard, dragging Vasaris to the mat.
Vasaris in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Vasaris stops French from standing up.
French working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Vasaris.
Vasaris throwing strikes from guard but French blocks nicely.
Vasaris wants to control from the top but French keeps moving.
French bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Vasaris's guard.
French content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

French decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Vasaris, up you get!

French has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Vasaris clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

French slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Vasaris is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and French dives into side control.

French lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Vasaris down.

French will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
French just content to control the position.
Vasaris is trying to work for a sweep but French has mounted him!

French is punishing Vasaris with strikes - can he finish him?!
French lands a shot to the body.
French slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
French has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

French is hanging on to Vasaris's back as he tries to escape.

Vasaris is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

French seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Vasaris for as long as he can get away with.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Rolland French overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
French really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Vasaris.

Rolland French is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Vasaris is bucking up trying to escape but French cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
