Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Apolinario Mabini! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fabien Gigu! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Fujiwara and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gigu has taken the fight to the clinch.
Mabini with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Gigu is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Mabini can't fight it off and eventually Gigu manages to take the fight to the floor. Mabini looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gigu trying to control but Mabini is working from the bottom. Mabini is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Mabini has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Gigu should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Mabini has tightened it up now! Gigu should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Apolinario Mabini!
