Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lance Invictus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Invictus comes to the cage accompanied by Can't Be Touched. Smith has chosen Bill Monroe & The Bluegrass Boys - Southern Flavor as his entrance music. John Smith has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Lance Invictus's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lance Invictus! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Smith! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Invictus misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Smith has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. A head kick misses from Invictus. Smith shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Invictus manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Invictus wants to stand and escape but Smith is having none of it. Smith controls from within his opponent's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
OK we're going to have a standup here. John Smith hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Excellent takedown into side control there by Smith. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Smith taking a breather here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Invictus is looking for a sweep. Smith throws a strike aimed at the side of Invictus's head but Invictus avoids it well. Smith creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Invictus sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Invictus taking a bit of punishment here - Smith scoring with strikes. Check out the look on Smith's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Smith remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. You can see the frustration on Invictus's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Invictus being controlled for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith cracks Invictus with a big right hand but Invictus just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Smith content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Let's hope that Smith has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. It looks like Smith might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Smith has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Invictus is trying to get back to half guard. Smith remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Smith lands an elbow. Invictus being controlled for a moment. Smith in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Invictus is fending him off so far but Smith persists. Nope, Invictus circles away and we're back to standing. A punch combination from Invictus misses. Smith avoids a kick to the body.
Lance Invictus is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Smith shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Invictus pinned against the cage. Invictus gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Lance Invictus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Smith. Smith dives in for a single leg takedown but Invictus sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Invictus stops a takedown attempt from Smith.

Smith has Invictus pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Smith pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Invictus tumbling to the mat - Smith dives into Invictus's guard. Smith is stalling in the full guard. Smith working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Invictus's head. Invictus wants to stand up but Smith is controlling him. Smith is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Smith trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Smith sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Invictus throws the kick towards the body but Smith avoids it. John Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Smith fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Smith shoots in and drives through. Invictus sprawls well. Invictus seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Nice uppercut lands for Invictus. That snapped Smith's head back.

Sloppy strikes from Invictus. Those never looked like landing. Invictus lands with a kick to the temple. Smith shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A head kick misses from Invictus. No luck for Smith with that takedown attempt. A punch combination from Invictus misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith checks a leg kick. Smith has his takedown stuffed and Invictus counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Invictus. Smith tightens his grip and picks Invictus up, before dumping him to the ground. Invictus manages to land in guard. Invictus is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Smith showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Invictus working a defensive guard here.

Smith takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Smith has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Invictus regains guard immediately. Invictus can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Smith controls the pace. Smith's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by John Smith. Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Invictus sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat. Invictus defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Smith. Invictus is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.
