Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chad Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Puempel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hardy comes to the cage accompanied by Run this town. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chad Hardy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Puempel!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Aafke Stam and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hardy misses with a few strikes there.
Puempel shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hardy but Hardy pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hardy misses with an uppercut. Puempel saw that one coming.
Puempel lands a head kick. Hardy smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Puempel keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hardy throws a right hand that Puempel ducks under and follows up with a left that Puempel also avoids with ease.
A slow jab from Hardy misses its intended target.
That kick from Puempel tenderised Hardy's leg. Hardy is trying to keep his angry face on.
A cross from Puempel lands.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Hardy.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hardy tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Hardy throws a strike aimed at the side of Puempel's head but Puempel avoids it well.
Puempel can't do much from the bottom here.

You can see the frustration on Puempel's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hardy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Puempel keeps working.
Hardy lands a few punches from side control.
Puempel manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Puempel perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Hardy is looking to improve his position.
Hardy gets back to full guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Puempel slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Puempel is fighting to break Hardy's control of his arms but Hardy is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Hardy throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Hardy can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Puempel controls the pace.
Puempel has gone for a leg lock! Hardy slips out almost immediately though and dives into Puempel's guard.

Puempel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Puempel looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Hardy passes Puempel's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Puempel keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Puempel wants to control the action here but instead Hardy manages to pass to full mount!
Puempel is desperately trying to improve his position but Hardy has a good base and remains in mount.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hardy tries to control but Puempel wriggling away.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Puempel wants to hold on but Hardy pushes him away.
Hardy drops a big elbow. That's hurt Puempel! More shots from Hardy and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

After winning the bout, Chad Hardy thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
