Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Giorgio Abbiati (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Oliver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Abbiati's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Don't Speak - Eagles of Death Metal. Oliver has chosen Enter Sandman-Metallica as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Giorgio Abbiati! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ray Oliver! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Oliver misses with a takedown and Abbiati counters with a left to the body. Abbiati throws a right and a left that Oliver avoids nicely. Oliver closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Abbiati is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Oliver looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Oliver seems to be looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Oliver is looking for a kimura but Abbiati is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Oliver to get the leverage. Oliver is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Abbiati won't allow Oliver to pass to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Oliver is thwarting Abbiati's attempts to control the position. Abbiati wants to get back to his feet. Abbiati trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Oliver manages to pass to mount!
Oliver moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Abbiati has worked his arm free - good work by Abbiati!

Horrible takedown by Oliver or perhaps it was just good defense by Abbiati which made him look bad. Abbiati swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Oliver tries to land a sweep but no joy. Abbiati is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Abbiati wants to pass the guard but Oliver is keeping the position. Abbiati slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Oliver has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Abbiati is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Abbiati stalling in the clinch but Oliver improves position. Abbiati tries to land knees in the clinch but Oliver avoids the damage to the body. Abbiati can't find room to land a body shot as Oliver controls the action.
Oliver is trying to drag Abbiati to the mat but Abbiati just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Oliver managing to block the knees to the body from Abbiati.

Giorgio Abbiati seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Abbiati tries to clinch but Oliver is having none of it. Oliver keeps the fight on the outside. Abbiati throws a right and a left that both miss. Oliver closes the distance and clinches up with Abbiati, looking for a takedown. Oliver pushes Abbiati against the cage but Abbiati circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Abbiati misses with a two punch combination.
Abbiati moves in looking to clinch but Oliver pushes him off. Oliver's coach down at Synergy Fight Team was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Oliver's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Oliver fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Abbiati wants to clinch and Oliver counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Oliver trying to advance position but Abbiati counters by regaining guard. We've been hearing good reports from Abbiati's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Oliver is looking to pass into half guard but Abbiati pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Abbiati is in guard. Ray Oliver has got the better of the ground game so far. Oliver stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Abbiati swivels though and keeps the full guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Abbiati is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Ray Oliver. I've got Oliver winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Ray Oliver! After the fight, Ray Oliver was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
