Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Denny Spears! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Azamat Bagov! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Russell Pearce and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spears tries to clinch up but Bagov circles away and keeps his distance. Bagov gets caught napping as Spears dives in and scores a takedown. Bagov manages to retain guard. Bagov has momentary wrist control but Spears slips an elbow through the middle. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bagov has a closed guard, preventing Spears from standing up. Spears loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Spears trying to stand up but can't free himself from Bagov's guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bagov can do anything to dispel that myth. Spears preventing the sweep. Bagov is looking for a triangle but Spears pushes his legs off easily.

Spears dives in and scores a takedown into Bagov's guard. Spears throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bagov works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Spears postures up in Bagov's guard and throws a big left but Bagov blocks it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spears stands up over Bagov, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Bagov working a defensive guard here.
Spears will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Bagov preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Bagov looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Spears wanted to stand there but Bagov had control of the position. Bagov is working an open guard so Spears takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. This has been an exciting period of action! Bagov is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Spears. Spears throws a series of punches but Bagov avoids them all with ease.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spears lands a leg kick that knocks Bagov off balance momentarily. Bagov takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Bagov avoids the head kick by Spears.
The fight stays on the outside here - Spears looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A leg kick checked by Bagov. A right-left combo lands from Spears.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spears bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bagov throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Spears pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Spears tries to close the distance and clinch but Bagov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Bagov crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Spears - the referee stops the clock and Bagov gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Spears. Bagov manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Bagov checks the leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bagov takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Spears tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Spears cracks Bagov with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Spears has closed the distance and engaged Bagov in a clinch.
Bagov wants a takedown but no success here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Bagov working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Bagov wants to control from the top but Spears keeps moving. Bagov might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Spears haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bagov wants to pass the guard but Spears is keeping the position. Bagov is breathing heavily. Bagov is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Bagov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Bagov drops back, looking for a kneebar! Spears looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Spears looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Spears! Bagov is trying to control Spears's posture but Spears avoids it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spears decides to stand up, so the ref orders Bagov to his feet. Bagov checks the leg kick. Spears misses with a jab, cross combination.
Spears gets a takedown into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Denny Spears dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Spears wants to clinch and Bagov counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Bagov is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Spears defends it well. Spears keeping hold of Bagov's head, controlling as best he can. Spears wants to control but Bagov is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bagov looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Spears with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Bagov is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Bagov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Spears gets back to full guard.
Bagov wants to stand but Spears has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bagov looking to sit in guard and control but Spears gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Bagov looking to hit a scissor sweep but Spears is one step ahead there. Spears tries to stand but Bagov is controlling from the bottom. Bagov has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Spears should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Bagov has tightened it up now! Spears should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Azamat Bagov! A less than humble Azamat Bagov misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
