Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Cox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, bj Ferguson!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cox throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Cox looks to score with a jab to the body but Ferguson is just out of range.
Ferguson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Cox counters with a takedown into side control.
Ferguson avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Cox.
Cox tries to score with some ground and pound. Ferguson controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Cox blocks the strikes from Ferguson.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ferguson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Cox has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Ferguson!
Cox looking to ground and pound but Ferguson is blocking nicely.
Cox takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Cox has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cox looking to finish Ferguson with some ground and pound. This is bad for Ferguson!
Ferguson is wriggling around trying to escape.
Ferguson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Cox looking to control but Ferguson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Ferguson holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Cox tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Cox is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Cox punishing his opponent with strikes.
Cox is landing with some decent strikes but Ferguson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Ferguson swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Ferguson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.


Ferguson is rocked!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ferguson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Cox postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Ferguson in real trouble here! The ref calls for Ferguson to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Cox!
A loyal slave to those sponsorship dollars, Steve Cox made sure he mentioned Meet the Future, along with how happy he was to win his fight.
In defeat, bj Ferguson stepped up to the mic, saying 'He was a tough fight. i lost. not much i can say. I'm sad. I'm disappointed. and i just have no excuses for this. people think this is the end of the road for me. but its not! I'm just getting started.'.
