Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Rashid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wes Landry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wes Landry is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Paul Rashid! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Wes Landry! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Landry misses with a wild body shot. Landry throws a jab but it's blocked by Rashid. Landry avoids a punch combination nicely.
Landry keeps the fight on the outside. Rashid throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Landry's head. Landry drives through with a takedown into Rashid's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Rashid is pulling down on Landry's head to control his posture. Landry trying to control but Rashid is working from the bottom. Rashid tries to land a sweep but no joy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rashid working a defensive guard here.
Landry really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rashid. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Landry is looking to clinch but Rashid is avoiding it.
Landry closes the distance and pushes Rashid back into the cage. Rashid escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Landry throws a lazy head kick and Rashid counters with a big head kick but Landry shrugs it off. Landry takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Landry rushes Rashid and presses him up against the cage. Rashid jumps into guard, dragging Landry to the mat.
Landry trying to control the position from guard on top but Rashid is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rashid is adopting a defensive guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rashid is trying to keep Landry in close.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The ref stands the fighters back up because Paul Rashid just wasn't active enough. Landry shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Rashid is trying to defend but Landry finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Landry wants to control but Rashid is keeping him busy. Rashid works his way to full guard. Good work.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Wes Landry. Nice body punch from Rashid. Rashid shoots in for a double leg but Landry sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Rashid tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Landry paws at him with a jab and circles away. Landry takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Rashid is trying hard to land a takedown here. Landry sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Landry shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Rashid tries to score a power double leg takedown but Landry sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rashid somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Rashid. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rashid is breathing heavily. Landry uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rashid.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Landry closes the distance and clinches. Landry displaying some good clinch control by pressing Rashid up against the cage. Rashid creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Rashid jumps guard but Landry turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Landry has had enough of the clinch but Rashid keeps him there for the moment. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Landry pressing his opponent against the cage. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rashid drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That was a close round but I would say that Paul Rashid will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Landry scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Landry is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Rashid has escaped the position, nice work there. Rashid is not content to let Landry control the position. Rashid controls the position for a moment. Rashid manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Let's see if Landry can do anything to dispel that myth. Landry is trying to get back to full guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rashid in particular looking to stall.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Paul Rashid wasn't doing enough on the ground. Landry has a takedown stuffed. Landry throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rashid.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Landry shoots in and drives through. Rashid sprawls well. Rashid closes this distance looking for a takedown but Landry circles away. Landry takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Rashid is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight. Rashid tries for a takedown but Landry sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Landry tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rashid paws at him with a jab and circles away. Rashid connects with a body shot that sends Landry's belly button to the back. Rashid moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Landry shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Landry was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Landry throws an elbow but Rashid slips to the side and avoids it well. Landry trying to control the position but Rashid is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Landry tries to stand but Rashid controls the position and pulls Landry into his guard. Landry wants to control from the top but Rashid keeps moving. Rashid is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Landry defends well. Landry postures up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Landry rushes Rashid and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Landry effectively controlling the action here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Landry fails to pull guard.
Paul Rashid has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wes Landry. Landry tries to pull guard but Rashid holds him up against the cage and eventually Landry drops back down to his feet.

Rashid misses with a takedown attempt - Landry sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Good leg kick by Rashid there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

That's one minute gone in the round. Landry bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Landry prevents Rashid from escaping the position. Landry trying to control the action but Rashid is working from the bottom. Rashid can't do much from the bottom here. Landry tries to stand but Rashid is controlling his head. Rashid throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
That's two minutes gone in the round. No luck for Landry with that takedown attempt. Rashid tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Landry manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Rashid turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Landry shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rashid sprawls well. Rashid wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Landry gets slowly back to his feet. Landry has taken the fight to the clinch.
Landry wants to get back to striking at distance but Rashid won't allow it.
This has been an exciting period of action! Rashid is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Landry gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Rashid. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rashid managing to block the knees to the body from Landry.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Landry tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Rashid working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Rashid drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Landry gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Rashid obliges. Landry is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Rashid is defending well for now. Landry wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Rashid tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Landry just stands there and leans against the cage. Rashid jumps guard but Landry turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Rashid fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Landry wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Rashid has him pressed against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rashid's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Rashid tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Landry manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Landry decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Landry is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rashid is just riding it out for now. Landry eventually gives up the hold. Landry prevents Rashid from improving his position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rashid wants to control but Landry is keeping busy and won't allow it.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Wes Landry. I think Landry has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
