Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ian MacAiken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Kilpatrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MacAiken's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Dropkick Myrphy's / Rose Tattoo. Kilpatrick has chosen Gentleman as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ian MacAiken!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Luke Kilpatrick!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Russell Pearce and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kilpatrick misses the body punch
and Kilpatrick takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Luke Kilpatrick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kilpatrick lands a jab.
MacAiken swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kilpatrick throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kilpatrick throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Kilpatrick takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kilpatrick changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. MacAiken tries to avoid it but Kilpatrick manages to keep hold of a leg and drag MacAiken to the ground. MacAiken escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
MacAiken throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Kilpatrick on the side of the head.

MacAiken throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kilpatrick was covering up waiting for the punch and MacAiken finishes the takedown easily into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

MacAiken has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kilpatrick can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as MacAiken controls the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Kilpatrick pulls MacAiken in close to his closed guard and prevents MacAiken from doing any damage or advancing position.
MacAiken is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Kilpatrick is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt MacAiken will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

You can see the frustration on MacAiken's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
MacAiken is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kilpatrick is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
MacAiken is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Kilpatrick's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Kilpatrick is just content to waste time from the top position. MacAiken takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ian MacAiken will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


MacAiken looks for a takedown but Kilpatrick sprawls well.
MacAiken on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Kilpatrick looks to score with a jab to the body but MacAiken is just out of range.
MacAiken connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
MacAiken chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kilpatrick can pounce on him.
MacAiken throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kilpatrick sees it coming and avoids it easily.
MacAiken lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kilpatrick at a distance.
Kilpatrick moves in looking to clinch but MacAiken pushes him off.
Kilpatrick throws a shot to the body.
MacAiken shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kilpatrick as he jumps to the side.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

MacAiken lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
MacAiken keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kilpatrick looks to land a combination but MacAiken avoids it well.
Kilpatrick has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from MacAiken.

No luck with that takedown attempt from MacAiken.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kilpatrick accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

MacAiken can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kilpatrick controls the pace.
