PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Raddick Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Ram (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jenkins comes to the cage accompanied by ill bill - war is my destiny. Ram comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Black Sabbath Iron Man kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Raddick Jenkins could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Aaron Ram's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Raddick Jenkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aaron Ram!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ram fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Ram looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Ram stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Ram tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jenkins paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Ram drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Jenkins is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Ram's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Ram is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Jenkins has managed to free his arm - good work.
Jenkins holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Jenkins tries to get to full guard but Ram has control of the leg.
Jenkins is working hard here to advance position.

Jenkins is looking to control Ram's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jenkins avoid being mounted?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ram seems to be working for a kimura but Jenkins defends the submission attempt.
Jenkins tries to get to full guard but Ram has control of the leg.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Jenkins closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ram to the mat! Ram manages to get full guard.

Ram tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ram is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Ram has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jenkins can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Ram looks gassed!
Jenkins controls from within his opponent's guard.

Ram is looking for a triangle here but Jenkins uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Jenkins is looking to take a break and control but Ram is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ram tries to bench press Jenkins off him but Jenkins keeps the position.
Jenkins trying to control the action but Ram is working from the bottom.
Jenkins remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Jenkins decides to stand back up.
Ram gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Jenkins counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Ram has his foot on Jenkins's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jenkins works his way back into a safe position though.

Ram looking for a guillotine here but Jenkins defends easily.
Ram wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Jenkins manages to pass to side control.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Raddick Jenkins will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Jenkins throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Ram closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Ram thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jenkins's head.
Ram is tying to control. Jenkins wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Jenkins is trying to get back to full guard.

Ram stands up from half guard.

Jenkins gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Ram has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jenkins avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ram gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Ram looking to pass the guard.
Aaron Ram has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jenkins is pulling down on Ram's head. It's preventing any offense from Ram, at least for the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ram slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Jenkins keeps Ram under control for a moment.

Ram is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jenkins knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Ram is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jenkins has escaped the position, nice work there.
Jenkins wants to control but Ram postures up.
Jenkins is looking for a sweep.
Ram throws a strike aimed at the side of Jenkins's head but Jenkins avoids it well.

Ram thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Ram advances nicely into full mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jenkins is looking to improve his position but Ram isn't that keen on the idea.
Ram pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Ram looking to control and managing it successfully.
Ram tries to control but Jenkins wriggling away.

Ram quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Ram but it's paid off an Jenkins is forced to tap! Nice work by Ram.
