The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sonnen tries to clinch but Cain moves away and Cain counters with a nice kick to the body. Cain with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Sonnen circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Cain, right into the meat.
Cain keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Sonnen. Cain misses with a takedown and Sonnen counters with a shoot takedown. Cain fights it but they end up in guard. Sonnen wants to pass the guard but Cain is keeping the position. Cain keeping moving, preventing Sonnen from controlling successfully. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sonnen wants to pass the guard but Cain is keeping the position. Sonnen is looking to stand up but Cain won't let him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sonnen throwing strikes from guard but Cain blocks nicely. Cain looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Sonnen advances position into side control! Sonnen is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cain has escaped the position, nice work there. Cain is not content to let Sonnen control the position. Cain tries to control but Sonnen manages to take his back. Cain might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sonnen has good solid back control here. Cain is covering up but some of the strikes from Sonnen are getting through and doing damage.

Good control from Sonnen. Sonnen lands punches and elbows. Cain definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Cain rolls, trying to escape but Sonnen keeps control of the position.
This has been an exciting period of action! Sonnen is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sonnen is not going to allow Cain to sit and survive in this position. Sonnen is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Sonnen is looking for the choke from the back position but Cain is controlling his hands well. Cain trying to control the action but Sonnen just sinks the hooks in. Sonnen working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Cain is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Sonnen has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Cain taps out!
