Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tico Cortez!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cortez lands with a nice combination. Kawajiri backs away looking to recover.
Cortez throws a head kick that misses.
A big left from Kawajiri misses.
Good work by Kawajiri as he checks the leg kick.
We've been told by Kawajiri's head coaches at Rings Russia that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Cortez uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kawajiri.

Cortez has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Cortez throws an overhand right that lands on Kawajiri's shoulder, as Kawajiri tries to avoid the shot.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Cortez connects with a solid leg kick.
Kawajiri takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Kawajiri lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tico Cortez will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Cortez moves in looking to clinch but Kawajiri pushes him off.

and Kawajiri counters with a straight right hand.
Kawajiri looks to throw the jab but Cortez is out of range.

Kawajiri throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kawajiri misses with a straight right.
Cortez moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Kawajiri uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cortez.

and Cortez takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kawajiri scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Kawajiri throws a body punch but Cortez moves out of range.

Jab, jab by Cortez - just one landing.
Cortez scores with a head kick.
Kawajiri with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Cortez throws a jab but it's blocked by Kawajiri.
Kawajiri misses with a hook. Cortez ducked under it nicely.
Cortez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Cortez misses with a wild body shot.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kawajiri swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kawajiri bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Cortez's head.
Cortez walks straight into a right hand from Kawajiri - that's dropped him! Kawajiri jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Cortez from any more punishment! Cortez complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Tatsuya Kawajiri!
