Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aleksanteri Karelin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duncan McAlister (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karelin comes to the cage accompanied by CCCP. McAlister has chosen Althia and Donna - Uptown Top Ranking as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Aleksanteri Karelin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 23 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Duncan McAlister!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karelin lands a nice hook to McAlister's body. McAlister takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Aleksanteri Karelin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Karelin throws the left hand but McAlister avoids the punch easily.
Karelin lands a lovely overhand right.
McAlister throws a hook but Karelin avoids it easily.
Karelin misses with a jab to the body
and McAlister counters with a nice uppercut.
Karelin swings away with a body shot that misses
and McAlister counters with a left to the body.
McAlister ducks under a wild hook from Karelin.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McAlister throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Karelin lands a two punch combo.
McAlister moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Karelin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. McAlister sprawls well initially but Karelin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

McAlister tries to get to full guard but Karelin has control of the leg.
Karelin is trying to control. McAlister wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
McAlister has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Karelin is working away from the top position though.

McAlister regains full guard. Nicely done.

Karelin won't allow McAlister to sweep him here.
Karelin postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Karelin wants to control from the top but McAlister keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Karelin throws an elbow that misses. McAlister uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Karelin's guard. Nice move by McAlister!

McAlister postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Karelin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of McAlister, into his guard.

McAlister is adopting a defensive guard.

Karelin got a little sloppy there for a moment and McAlister has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Karelin has managed to get both his arms back between McAlister's legs - danger averted.

Karelin wants to pass the guard but McAlister is keeping the position.
Karelin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McAlister works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Karelin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

McAlister has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Karelin doesn't defend quickly enough and McAlister has managed to lock this one up! Can Karelin escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to McAlister on a fantastic submission victory.
