Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ichi Ijima! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
24 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Belton ! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Steven Brown and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Belton connects with the punch. Ijima shoots in for a double leg but Belton sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Ijima fails with the takedown. Ijima looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Belton swings for the body but Ijima moves out of range.
Ijima slips a jab from Belton . Belton delivers a nice body kick. The crowd cheers as Belton lands an impressive looking overhand right. Ijima doesn't seem phased though. Belton scores with a spinning back kick! Ijima tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Belton misses with a body shot.

Ijima walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Belton on the wrong end of a nice hook. Belton works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. A telegraphed right hand from Belton misses the target. Ijima avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Belton misses with a low kick.
Ijima thows a body shot but no joy. Belton throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ijima on the side of the head. Ijima looks to throw the jab but Belton is out of range. A big right from Belton misses. Belton feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Ijima's calf. Ijima throws a jab but it's blocked by Belton . Belton fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ijima. Belton fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Belton clobbers Ijima with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ijima shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Belton pinned against the cage. Belton gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ichi Ijima. That's going to take a lot out of him. Belton chopping away at his opponent's legs.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! That kick from Belton tenderised Ijima's leg. Ijima is trying to keep his angry face on. Bill Belton is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Nice body punch from Ijima. Belton jabs Ijima right on the nose. Ijima blinks but takes it well. Belton fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ijima manages to avoid it. Ijima connects with a nice looking jab.
Ijima takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Ijima on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Ijima pulls out of a head kick attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Belton swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Ijima uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Belton .
Ijima fails with a takedown attempt. Belton ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ijima moves away. Ijima on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Ijima closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Belton did well to prevent Ijima getting side control. Belton is looking to get back to full guard here but Ijima has managed to pass to side control instead. Ijima working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Belton is looking for a sweep. Ijima in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Ijima is trying to ground and pound but Belton uses the momentary lack of control by Ijima to regain half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Belton is looking to improve his position.
Ijima missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Ijima is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Belton is just riding it out for now. Ijima eventually gives up the hold. Ijima throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ijima stalling away here and it's allowed Belton to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bill Belton seems to be getting the better of the standup. Belton swats away the attempt to clinch by Ijima. Ijima shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Belton but Belton pushes him off and we're back to square one. Ijima is looking to wear down Belton with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Ijima uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Belton . That's one minute gone in the round. Belton slaps away a takedown attempt from Ijima, before circling back to the center of the mat. A decent looking cross lands there for Belton . Ijima throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Belton 's waist but Belton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ijima off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ichi Ijima. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ijima goes for a double leg but Belton avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Belton continues to drive forward. Belton tries to break free but Ijima pushes him back against the cage. Ijima pulls guard successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Belton stands up from Ijima's guard - Belton perhaps looking for a knockout. Belton is looking to land body kicks. Ijima staying out of range there. Belton throws a hook but Ijima blocks it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ijima displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Belton throws out the jab. Jab by Belton . Ijima ducks under a wild hook from Belton . Belton throws a hook but Ijima blocks it. A jab from Belton misses. Ijima ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Ijima looks for a takedown but Belton sprawls well. Belton swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Belton leaves Ijima with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Belton takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Ijima is looking to score with low kicks.

Ijima tries to score a power double leg takedown but Belton sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ijima somewhat. Ijima darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Ijima throws a strike but Belton avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Belton controls Ijima momentarily but Ijima frees himself. Belton is adopting a defensive guard. Belton manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ijima is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Belton won't allow Ijima to sweep him here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ijima tries to close the distance and clinch but Belton swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Ijima keeps control of Belton as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Belton is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Ijima is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Belton is keeping busy. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ichi Ijima. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ijima looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Belton is fending him off so far but Ijima persists. Nope, Belton circles away and we're back to standing. Ijima with a poor takedown and Belton counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Ijima thinking. It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over. Ijima keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Ijima ducks right into an uppercut from Belton . Ijima looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Ijima changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Belton tries to avoid it but Ijima manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Belton to the ground. Belton escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Belton lands a jab to Ijima's midsection. Belton looks to score with a jab to the body but Ijima is just out of range. Ijima manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
