Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jody Sloan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Erkan Avci!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Taro Takaoka and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sloan has managed to clinch.
Avci looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Avci jumps guard and drags Sloan to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Sloan makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Sloan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Avci being controlled here, momentarily.
Sloan stands up over Avci, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Sloan engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Sloan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Sloan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Sloan stands up from Avci's guard - Sloan perhaps looking for a knockout.
Avci fails to land with a series of punches.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Sloan takes the fight into the clinch.
Avci looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Sloan gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Avci regains guard.
Sloan is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sloan with a nice head shot there.
Sloan controls from within his opponent's guard.
Sloan works a leg free and moves into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sloan content to control rather than advance.
Sloan lands strikes from half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sloan connects with a nice short shot to Avci's temple.
Avci felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sloan with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Avci on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Avci really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sloan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sloan is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Avci is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
