Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rodrigo Henry! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Gutierrez! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gutierrez shoots in looking for a takedown. Henry tries to sprawl out of it but Gutierrez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Henry manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Gutierrez closes this distance looking for a takedown but Henry circles away. Henry keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Henry. Henry lands some shots froms side control. Henry decides to stand back up. Jose Gutierrez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gutierrez instigates a clinch. Henry missing with knees to the body.
Gutierrez is trying to pull guard but Henry has him pressed against the cage. Rodrigo Henry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Gutierrez. Henry content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Gutierrez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Henry walks away with a smile on his face. Gutierrez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Gutierrez does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Gutierrez closes the distance and clinches. Gutierrez wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Henry has him pressed against the cage. Gutierrez lands with a right to the head. Henry manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Gutierrez tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Henry's elbow. Gutierrez wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Henry has him pressed against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Henry prevents Gutierrez from breaking the clinch. Gutierrez letting Henry take a breather here. Gutierrez tries for a takedown. No joy.

Gutierrez wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Gutierrez is trying to pull guard but Henry has him pressed against the cage. Gutierrez pulls guard successfully.
Henry really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gutierrez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Henry stands and steps away. Gutierrez gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Gutierrez with a lazy takedown attempt and Henry counters with a three punch combo that has Gutierrez backing up. Gutierrez nods at Henry to acknowledge the strikes. Henry shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gutierrez is trying to defend but Henry finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Henry with the ground and pound but Gutierrez uses the opportunity to regain guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Henry accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Henry is looking to work some ground and pound but Gutierrez has wrist control. Gutierrez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Henry can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Gutierrez working a defensive guard here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Henry postures up and lands a big shot to Gutierrez's brow. Henry connects with a couple of short punches. Henry chips away with some ground and pound. Henry stands up from Gutierrez's guard - Henry perhaps looking for a knockout. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gutierrez swinging wildly here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Henry pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Henry walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gutierrez. Gutierrez swings away with a leg kick that misses. Gutierrez scores with a body shot.
Gutierrez tries for a takedown but Henry sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Gutierrez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Henry counters with a takedown into side control. Rodrigo Henry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Gutierrez. Henry scoring with punches and elbows. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Henry is chipping away with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gutierrez is working to avoid the ground and pound but Henry connects with a decent elbow. Henry will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Henry scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Gutierrez to see if he's OK. Henry scores with a couple of short elbows. Gutierrez is working to avoid the ground and pound but Henry connects with a decent elbow. Henry tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Henry working the head with strikes. Henry looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Gutierrez is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Henry gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Henry will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Gutierrez up against the cage.

Gutierrez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Henry but Henry pushes him off and we're back to square one. Henry avoids the head kick by Gutierrez.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Henry is pushing Gutierrez up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Gutierrez jumps guard but Henry stands there with Gutierrez around his waist. Gutierrez gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Henry is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Henry looking to slow down the pace here. Henry is defending well against a takedown attempt. Henry has Gutierrez pushed against the cage. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Henry lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Henry controlling the action here for a moment.
Gutierrez tries to break the clinch but Henry is controlling the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rodrigo Henry dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Gutierrez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Henry tries to avoid it but Gutierrez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Henry to the ground. Henry escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. The fight moves into the clinch position. Jose Gutierrez seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Henry takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Henry swings away with an uppercut that misses.

It looks like Rodrigo Henry has been cut. Gutierrez clinches up with Henry and pushes him back against the cage. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Gutierrez is trying to break the clinch but Henry is controlling him. Gutierrez scores with a shoulder strike.
Henry is rocked! Gutierrez looking for a takedown. Oh Henry is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Gutierrez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Gutierrez throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Henry crumples to the floor and the fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Jose Gutierrez! Jose Gutierrez decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
