Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bertram Hurley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Trenton! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Trenton throws a hook but Hurley avoids it easily. Hurley slaps away a takedown attempt from Trenton, before circling back to the center of the mat. Trenton thows a body shot but no joy. Hurley has managed to clinch.
Trenton has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Trenton tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Hurley keeping moving, preventing Trenton from controlling successfully. The fighters are working up against the cage. Hurley manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. Trenton is looking for a takedown. Bertram Hurley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Trenton. Hurley has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Trenton uses from the top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. James Trenton was stalling too much, according to the referee. Trenton shoots and misses and Hurley holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Trenton's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Trenton shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hurley defends it nicely. Trenton looks winded! Trenton tries to clinch but fails miserably and Hurley counters with a nice uppercut. Hurley clinches with his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round. Trenton is looking for a sweep. Hurley is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Hurley stands up out of the half guard. Trenton closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hurley did well to prevent Trenton getting side control. Hurley won't allow Trenton to pass to mount. Trenton is breathing heavily. Hurley is pressing down on Trenton's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Trenton trying to control the position from guard on top but Hurley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hurley has his foot on Trenton's thigh. Hurley looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hurley!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Trenton isn't going anywhere. Trenton tries to improve position but can't. Trenton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hurley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hurley decides to take the fight back to the feet. James Trenton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Trenton shoots in looking for a takedown but Hurley manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Trenton's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

James Trenton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Trenton takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Trenton is defended easily by Hurley. Bertram Hurley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Trenton. The fight moves into the clinch position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. That was a close second round but I would say that Bertram Hurley will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Trenton scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Hurley tries to get back to half guard but can't. Trenton throws an elbow but Hurley slips to the side and avoids it well. Trenton sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Hurley is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Trenton is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hurley is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Trenton tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Trenton is trying to ground and pound but Hurley uses the momentary lack of control by Trenton to regain half guard. Trenton takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Trenton wants to control from the top but Hurley keeps moving. Trenton postures up in Hurley's guard and throws a big left but Hurley blocks it. Trenton trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Hurley manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Trenton has a closed guard, preventing Hurley from standing up. Trenton looking to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Trenton is controlling Hurley's posture. Hurley tries to stand but Trenton is controlling from the bottom. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Trenton holds on and takes a little breather. Hurley will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
OK we're going to have a standup here. James Trenton hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Trenton showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hurley.
Hurley connects with a high kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Trenton shoots in but no luck this time. Hurley gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Trenton stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Hurley has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Trenton manages to get his head free but now Hurley has transitioned to an armbar! Trenton grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Hurley! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
