Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, George St pierre! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! St pierre avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Johnson looks to throw the jab but St pierre is out of range. Johnson swings for the body but St pierre moves out of range.
St pierre misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Johnson misses the body punch and St pierre counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. St pierre looks to land a combination but Johnson avoids it well. Left hook, right uppercut from St pierre. Johnson fails with an attempt to clinch.

St pierre goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. St pierre dodges the punch combination from Johnson.
Johnson swings widly with a right hand
and St pierre counters with a series of strikes. Johnson will be more careful next time no doubt. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Johnson is on the wrong end of a nice combination from St pierre. St pierre throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. St pierre looks to land a right hand but Johnson moved out of range. Johnson closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. St pierre uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Johnson.
That's one minute gone in the round. St pierre uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Johnson. Johnson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but St pierre circles away quickly and effectively. Johnson lands a jab to St pierre's midsection. Johnny Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnson misses with a right hand and St pierre counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. and St pierre counters with a nice double leg into guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. St pierre drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Johnson dives on top into guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Johnson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed St pierre's guard. St pierre is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Johnson pulls his head out easily. St pierre actively working from the bottom here. Johnson working St pierre over with strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson scoring with strikes to the body and head. Johnson not landing any meaningful shots this time. Johnson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks St pierre with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. St pierre actively working from the bottom here. Johnson is trying to work for a kimura but St pierre is defending well.
St pierre is looking to control Johnson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can St pierre avoid being mounted? St pierre wants to improve his position but Johnson is controlling well.
Johnson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed St pierre's head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnson is nestled in close to St pierre, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. St pierre trying to control from the bottom.
St pierre wants to improve his position but Johnson is controlling well.
St pierre is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so St pierre is just riding it out for now. Johnson eventually gives up the hold. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. St pierre is looking for a sweep. Johnson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Johnson missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Johnson not landing any meaningful shots this time. Johnson is thwarting St pierre's attempts to control the position. St pierre looking for submissions off his back. St pierre moves into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Johnson trying to control but St pierre is working from the bottom. Johnson is looking to pass into half guard but St pierre pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now St pierre is in guard. Johnson keeping moving, preventing St pierre from controlling successfully. Johnson has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think St pierre should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Johnson has tightened it up now! St pierre should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
