Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, William Carr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Loki Upton! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Matheus Silva and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Upton!
It looks like William Carr has been cut. Upton rushes Carr and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Upton tries to break the clinch but Carr is controlling the position. Carr is looking to break free of the clinch but Upton has double underhooks. Carr landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Carr working hard to break the clinch. A frustrated look appears on Upton's face as he tries to break the clinch. Upton has had enough of the clinch but Carr keeps him there for the moment. Carr decides to pull guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Upton prevents Carr from getting back to his feet. Upton wants to stand but Carr has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Upton decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Upton lands a jab to the nose. Carr closes the distance and clinches. Carr escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Carr drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Carr drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Carr jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Upton is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Carr is controlling him. Carr stands up from guard. Let's bang! Upton throws a right hand that Carr ducks under and follows up with a left that Carr also avoids with ease.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Upton lands with a cross. This has been an exciting period of action! Carr gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Carr has Upton pressed against the cage, preventing Upton from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Upton wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Carr has him pressed against the cage. Upton is trying to break the clinch but Carr has him pressed against the cage. Carr tries to break the clinch but Upton is controlling the position. Upton wants to break the clinch but can't.
Carr breaks from the clinch.
Upton misses with a looping right. Carr uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Upton. Carr gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Carr is rocked! Upton looks winded! Upton connects with a stiff jab that staggers Carr - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Loki Upton!
