Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Floyd Mondello! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Takahiro Jouda! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jab from Mondello. Jouda shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mondello napping and manages to drive through into side control! The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Mondello tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jouda wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Jouda lands a few punches from side control. Mondello is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Jouda off and has taken his back! Jouda is trying to stand back up. Mondello seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Jouda tries to roll but Mondello sticks to his back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jouda is still trying to improve position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jouda controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Mondello misses with an elbow to the head. Jouda wants to control his opponent's hands but Mondello gets his hands free. Jouda is keeping busy.
Jouda wants to escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Mondello's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Mondello thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent. Jouda can't escape the position.
Jouda has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Jouda prevents Mondello from getting a body triangle. Jouda is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jouda holding both Mondello 's hands and preventing any damage. Mondello punches the canvas rather than the man. Jouda wants to escape the position.
Jouda keeps trying to improve his position. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Mondello misses with a punch to the head. Jouda rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jouda trying to hold on to Mondello's head to control him but Mondello postures up.
Jouda wants to sweep but Mondello has passed to side control! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Takahiro Jouda will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Mondello misses with an uppercut. Jouda saw that one coming. Mondello connects with a single shot there. Jouda throws a jab but it's blocked by Mondello. Mondello shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Jouda slips a straight right by Mondello. A decent looking cross lands there for Jouda. Jouda ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Mondello closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Jouda catches Mondello with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Jouda digs a good body shot into Mondello's ribs. Jouda lands an overhand right. Mondello throws the left hand but Jouda avoids the punch easily. Mondello misses with a straight left. Jouda misses with a double jab.
Jouda scores with a hook to the body. Mondello takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Jouda digs a good body shot into Mondello's ribs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Good shot there by Jouda. Jouda tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Mondello misses with a body shot.
Mondello ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jouda moves away. Mondello swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jouda scores with a punch to the head. Mondello fails with the takedown. Mondello keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jouda wants to clinch up but Mondello keeps it at a distance. Mondello throws a jab but it's blocked by Jouda. Mondello looks to score with a jab to the body but Jouda is just out of range. Jouda bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Mondello struggling a bit here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jouda is putting a hurting on Mondello here, landing some big shots from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jouda working the body and head with strikes. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mondello tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jouda wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Takahiro Jouda has got the better of the ground game so far. Mondello is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Mondello is looking to reverse the position. Jouda trying to control the position but Mondello is working away. Jouda scores with a couple of short elbows. Jouda trying to control the position but Mondello is working away. Mondello takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Jouda scores with punches from side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mondello tries to get back to half guard but can't. Jouda lands a nice forearm strike.
Mondello is rocked! Jouda scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Mondello is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Jouda can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
