Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alex Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Khrepchenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khrepchenko has chosen Why Do We Fall as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alexander Khrepchenko! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Khrepchenko looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Smith gets tackled into the cage by Khrepchenko. Khrepchenko maintains the clinch. Smith has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Khrepchenko after a bit of a struggle. Khrepchenko goes for a takedown attempt but Smith pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Alex Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Smith clinches with his opponent.
Khrepchenko is looking for a takedown. Smith tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Khrepchenko avoids it. Khrepchenko is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Khrepchenko is looking to take this one to the mat. Alex Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Khrepchenko. Khrepchenko turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Khrepchenko manages to end up in side control. Smith is trying to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Khrepchenko slows the pace down. Smith tries to get back to half guard but can't. Khrepchenko cracks Smith with an elbow. That is naaassty. Khrepchenko is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Smith will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Let's hope that Khrepchenko has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. It looks like Khrepchenko might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Alexander Khrepchenko has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Khrepchenko slips a jab and a cross from Smith.
Smith looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Smith has closed the distance and engaged Khrepchenko in a clinch.
Khrepchenko drops down looking for an ankle pick but Smith pulls his leg out and moves away.
Khrepchenko closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smith circles away. Smith gets caught napping as Khrepchenko dives in and scores a takedown. Smith manages to retain guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Smith has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Khrepchenko is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Smith. Smith trying to control but Khrepchenko flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! Khrepchenko is punishing Smith with strikes - can he finish him?! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Khrepchenko is riding his opponent, not letting Smith buck him off. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Smith rolls, trying to escape but Khrepchenko keeps control of the position.

Khrepchenko scores with a takedown into Smith's guard. Khrepchenko's corner is telling him to maintain position. Khrepchenko with a nice head shot there. Khrepchenko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard. Smith on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Smith tries to get out of the position. Smith being controlled here, momentarily. Smith looking to hit a scissor sweep but Khrepchenko is one step ahead there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Khrepchenko postures up.
Khrepchenko gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Smith avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Smith shoots and misses and Khrepchenko counters with a nice leg kick. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Smith is defended easily by Khrepchenko. Khrepchenko tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Smith manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Khrepchenko closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Smith tries to break free but Khrepchenko pushes him back against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Khrepchenko has clasped his hands together around Smith's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Khrepchenko controlling from side mount. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Smith is trying to improve his position. Alexander Khrepchenko has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Khrepchenko working away. A lull in the action here. Khrepchenko working the ground and pound. Smith is looking to get back to his feet here but Khrepchenko is keeping cool and he's managed to take Smith's back. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Khrepchenko has the hooks in. Smith is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Khrepchenko has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Smith's body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Khrepchenko throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Smith!

Alexander Khrepchenko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Smith closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Khrepchenko is pressed up against the cage. Smith has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Khrepchenko down to the mat. Khrepchenko avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Smith scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Smith closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Khrepchenko trying to stall but Smith improves his position.
Khrepchenko can't get the takedown.
Smith tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Khrepchenko smiles and moves away.
Khrepchenko tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away. Khrepchenko closes the distance and clinches. Khrepchenko is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Smith pulls him back up using the underhooks. Smith wants to get back to striking at distance but Khrepchenko won't allow it.

Alex Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Khrepchenko. Khrepchenko changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Smith fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Smith instigates a clinch. Smith prevents a takedown attempt there.
Smith tries to pull guard but Khrepchenko holds him up against the cage and eventually Smith drops back down to his feet.

Smith wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Smith is defending well against a takedown attempt. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Khrepchenko jumps guard and drags Smith to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Khrepchenko pushes Smith off and scrambles back to his feet.
Smith fails with the takedown and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Smith tries for a takedown but Khrepchenko circles away easily and Khrepchenko holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Smith wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Khrepchenko has him pressed against the cage. Khrepchenko has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Smith after a bit of a struggle. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Khrepchenko jumps guard.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Khrepchenko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Khrepchenko scrambles and gets back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Khrepchenko gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Khrepchenko looking to throw knees to the head but Smith is blocking nicely.
Khrepchenko is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Smith pulls him back up using the underhooks. Smith with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Smith is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Smith is fighting off a takedown attempt but Khrepchenko is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Smith to the mat. Smith regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Khrepchenko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard. Khrepchenko keeps trying to improve his position. Smith looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Khrepchenko puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith regains full guard. Nicely done. Khrepchenko is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smith can't keep his opponent in guard - Khrepchenko advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Still in half guard, Khrepchenko seems content to control. Khrepchenko tries to pass the half guard into mount. Smith knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Smith is trying to control but Khrepchenko manages to pass to mount!
And that's the end of the fight! Alexander Khrepchenko comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Khrepchenko has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
