Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gunner State Jr.! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
38 - 18 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Scott Spade! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, John Roberts and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! State Jr. fails with a takedown attempt. Gunner State Jr. seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. State Jr. tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Spade is able to avoid easily. Sloppy strikes from Spade. Those never looked like landing. Spade throws a nice inside leg kick. State Jr. shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Spade defends it nicely. Spade looks to land a combination but State Jr. avoids it well. Spade connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. State Jr. changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Spade tries to avoid it but State Jr. manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Spade to the ground. Spade escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gunner State Jr.. That's going to take a lot out of him. State Jr. drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Spade lets loose with a powerful body kick. State Jr. will feel that in the morning. State Jr. scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Spade wants to get back to full guard. State Jr. is working for a kimura but Spade is defending it quite comfortably.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spade gets full guard. Spade is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. State Jr. is stalling in the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Spade is trying to control the position but State Jr. postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. State Jr. looking to sit in guard and control but Spade gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Spade trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. State Jr. not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
State Jr. is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Spade looking to pass the guard. Spade landing some decent shots from guard. Spade drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and State Jr. dives on top into guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. State Jr. slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Spade has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. State Jr. doesn't defend quickly enough and Spade has managed to lock this one up! Can State Jr. escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Spade on a fantastic submission victory.
