Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Areli Durga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Stratton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Durga comes to the cage accompanied by Godsmack - Voodoo. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, Areli Durga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eric Stratton!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Columbo Gatti and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stratton fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Durga avoids it really well and circles away.
Stratton connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Stratton shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Durga is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Durga won't allow Stratton to pass to mount.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Stratton in particular looking to stall.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Let's hope that Stratton has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Eric Stratton was stalling too much, according to the referee.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Stratton.
Stratton misses with a hook.
Stratton fails with a takedown attempt.
Areli Durga has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eric Stratton.
A head kick from Durga lands but Stratton takes it in his stride.

Durga looks to score with a jab to the body but Stratton is just out of range.

Stratton fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Durga manages to avoid it.
Durga tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Stratton was well out of range. Poor timing from Durga.
Eric Stratton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Stratton lands a nice shot that snaps Durga's head back.
Stratton fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Durga fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Stratton.

Durga gets caught flat footed, as Stratton shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stratton wants to pass the guard but Durga is keeping the position.
Stratton showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Eric Stratton.
Stratton shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Durga as he jumps to the side.
Stratton throws a body punch but Durga moves out of range.
Durga moves out of range as Stratton strikes.

Stratton dives in and scores a takedown into Durga's guard.
Stratton trying to control the position from guard on top but Durga is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Durga can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Stratton controls the pace.
Stratton's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Eric Stratton hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Durga wants to land a leg kick but Stratton is out of range.
Durga throws an overhand right that lands on Stratton's shoulder, as Stratton tries to avoid the shot.
Stratton misses with a wild combination.
Stratton tries for a takedown but Durga sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Durga leaves Stratton with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Durga throws a leg kick but Stratton sees it coming and moves out of range.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Durga walks into a stiff left hand from Stratton.
Stratton misses with a wild combination.
Areli Durga is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Stratton shoots in for a takedown but Durga shows good takedown defense.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Stratton dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Stratton takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Stratton throws a shot from downtown. Durga moves away and avoids it.
Stratton tries for a takedown but Durga circles away easily
and Durga counters with a nice leg kick.
Stratton throws a lazy uppercut
and Durga counters with a nice uppercut.
Stratton misses with a wild body shot.
Durga wants to slow Stratton down by chopping away at his legs.
Durga tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Stratton was well out of range. Poor timing from Durga.
Stratton shoots for a double leg takedown but Durga sprawls well. He's pushed Stratton's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Durga scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Stratton misses with the combination.
Durga moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Stratton fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Durga to the ground. Stratton is now in Durga's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stratton is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Stratton is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Durga tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Stratton controls from within his opponent's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Eric Stratton was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Stratton shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Durga as he jumps to the side.

Durga throws a leg kick that misses.
Stratton is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Durga.

Durga gets caught napping as Stratton dives in and scores a takedown. Durga manages to retain guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Durga is not content to let Stratton control the position.
Stratton is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Durga will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Stratton remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Stratton is defended easily by Durga.

Eric Stratton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Durga keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A slow jab from Stratton misses its intended target.
Stratton lands with a nice body punch.
Stratton swings for the body but Durga moves out of range.

Durga turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
The fighters circling - Stratton throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Durga lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Stratton dives in for a single leg takedown but Durga sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Durga lands a body shot.
Stratton prevents a body shot from Durga.
Stratton tries to score a body lock takedown but Durga shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Stratton takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Durga prevents a takedown attempt there.
Stratton goes for a takedown in the clinch but Durga prevents it.
Durga comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.


It looks like Eric Stratton has been cut.

Stratton works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Stratton being controlled here momentarily.

Durga avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Stratton sitting in guard, not really doing much.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Durga not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Areli Durga has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Durga thuds his shin into the meat of Stratton's side.
Stratton swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Durga counters with a nice low kick that buckles Stratton's knee momentarily.
Areli Durga is winning the standup battle so far.
Stratton throws a nice looking combination but Durga bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Durga counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Stratton throws a shot from downtown. Durga moves away and avoids it.
Durga lands with a shot to the body.

Stratton looks to land a right hand but Durga moved out of range.
Stratton loads up on a big right hand but Durga slips the punch.
Stratton pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Stratton fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Durga manages to avoid it.
Stratton fails with a takedown attempt.
No luck for Stratton with that takedown attempt.
Areli Durga has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Stratton on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Stratton ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Durga turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Durga lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Stratton has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Stratton and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Durga ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Durga throws a leg kick that misses.
Durga connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Stratton throws a right hand that misses
and Durga counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Stratton chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Durga can pounce on him.
Durga cracks the inside of Stratton's front leg.
Durga is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Durga is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Stratton bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Durga's head.
Stratton's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Durga fails in his attempt to clinch.
A telegraphed right hand from Stratton misses the target.
Stratton uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Durga.
Stratton lands with a nice combination. Durga backs away looking to recover.
Durga scores with a head kick. Stratton tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The fighters circling - Stratton throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A head kick from Durga lands but Stratton takes it in his stride.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Durga.

Stratton fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Durga to the ground. Stratton is now in Durga's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Areli Durga showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Stratton has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
