The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brady throws a right hand that misses
and Monsoon counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Monsoon throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Monsoon scores with a nice right hand.
Brady waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Monsoon. Monsoon cracks Brady with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Monsoon is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Brady darts in trying to clinch and Monsoon counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Monsoon uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Brady. Monsoon blocks a jab. Monsoon scores with a nice right hand.
Brady misses with a lunging right hand
and Monsoon counters with a series of strikes that sends Brady to the canvas! Monsoon follows down into guard, looking to finish the fight!
Brady is rocked! The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Brady avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Monsoon scoring with some ground and pound. Monsoon pushing down on Brady's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monsoon is looking to stall here but Brady recovers full guard. Our spies down at at Silverback MMA Academy (Elite + Sauna & 160VM) inform us that Brady has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Brady has momentary wrist control but Monsoon slips an elbow through the middle. Monsoon scoring with punches to the head and body. Brady throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Monsoon wants to control from the top but Brady keeps moving. Brady is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Brady wants to sweep but no luck. Brady is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Brady avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Brady is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! With the fighters clinched against the cage, Monsoon creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Brady has a couple of punches blocked by Monsoon.
Monsoon lands an uppercut. Brady has hold of one of Monsoon's legs. Monsoon is fighting the takedown attempt but Brady gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Monsoon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Monsoon working over Brady with some ground and pound. Brady looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Monsoon sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Brady defending well though. Monsoon throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Monsoon missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Monsoon looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brady gets back to full guard.
Monsoon throws a big right hand that misses. Monsoon stopping the sweep attempt from Brady. Brady preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Brady working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Monsoon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Monsoon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Monsoon lands a couple of elbows. Brady is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Brady is looking to stand up but Monsoon isn't so interested in that idea. Monsoon wants to pass the guard but Brady is keeping the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Monsoon trying to control the position from guard on top but Brady is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Monsoon with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Monsoon is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Brady preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Monsoon with a nice head shot there. Monsoon in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Brady has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Monsoon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Monsoon throws a big elbow that misses. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Brady is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Monsoon defends well. Monsoon trying to control the position from guard on top but Brady is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tim Monsoon dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Brady tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Monsoon lands a glancing blow to the side of Brady's head. Monsoon uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Brady.
A looping hook to the body misses from Brady. Monsoon does a little dance to reset his feet. Nice defenses there by Monsoon. Brady is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent. Brady throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Brady tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Monsoon paws at him with a jab and circles away. Monsoon pivots, looking for a leg kick but Brady is out of range and Monsoon settles back down. Brady is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Brady fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Brady takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Monsoon uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Brady. Brady walks into a left hand. Monsoon is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brady takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Monsoon steps into range and cracks Brady with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Brady flops backwards and Monsoon dives into his guard looking to finish!
Brady is still in real trouble! Can Monsoon finish him? Brady is breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Monsoon postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Brady covers up, he's hurt! Monsoon keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Monsoon and the ref steps in to end the fight! Monsoon can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tim Monsoon! Tim Monsoon is the new heavyweight champion! Tim Monsoon gave a mention to 4 Leaf Fight Gear in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales). In defeat, Marshal Brady stepped up to the mic, saying 'I tried my best. Its hard to believe I was just a bricklayer a year ago now I'm here fighting the best thank you.'.
