The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marselli shoots for a takedown but Carter saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Marselli tries to clinch up but Carter circles away and keeps his distance.
Carter throws a right hand that Marselli ducks under and follows up with a left that Marselli also avoids with ease.
Marselli tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Carter manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Carter gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Marselli to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Marselli changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Carter looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Marselli is looking to take a break and control but Carter is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Marselli is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Marselli thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close round but I would say that Ryan Carter will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Marselli walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Carter checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Carter really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

We're going to have a standup here because Ryan Carter wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Carter feints a jab promting Marselli to slip. Carter then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Marselli slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Carter throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Marselli on the side of the head.

Marselli has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Marselli changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Carter tries to avoid it but Marselli manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Carter to the ground. Carter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Horrible takedown by Marselli or perhaps it was just good defense by Carter which made him look bad.
Carter lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Carter, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
