Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rolland French! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tua Takuvau! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Hugh Johnson and Topper Green.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Takuvau tries a head kick but it misses.
Takuvau tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Takuvau throws a head kick that misses. A solid leg kick lands there for Takuvau.
French throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Takuvau throws an ugly left hook that misses
and French counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Tua Takuvau seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Takuvau misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
French slips a straight right by Takuvau. Takuvau moves into range and connects with a jab.
It looks like Rolland French has been cut. Takuvau tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. French blocks a head kick by Takuvau.
Takuvau throws a body punch but French moves out of range. Takuvau swings for the body but French moves out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Takuvau misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Takuvau throws a jab but it's blocked by French. Takuvau just misses with a punch to the body.
French finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Takuvau throws a push kick but French slaps the foot to one side. Takuvau pulls out of a head kick attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Takuvau gets off balance looking for a body kick and French counters with a one-two to the body. Takuvau throws a lazy head kick and French counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Takuvau looks winded! Takuvau has hold of French's hands but French slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. French lands with a punch from half guard. French content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. French working the head and body with strikes. Takuvau on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! French seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. French has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. French escapes and gets back to his feet. Takuvau tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. French takes the fight into the clinch. French has hold of one of Takuvau's legs. Takuvau is fighting the takedown attempt but French gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. French sitting in guard here, content to control. Takuvau wants to get back to his feet but French passes into half guard.
French stops Takuvau from getting back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. French gets to his feet - back to striking we go! French gets in close and instigates a clinch. Takuvau can't break the clinch.
French fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
French tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Takuvau just stands there and leans against the cage. Takuvau is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Takuvau is trying to break free. French wants a takedown.

The fighters are working up against the cage. French manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. French looking for a takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rolland French. That's going to take a lot out of him. French is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Takuvau is defending well. Takuvau has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Takuvau breaks the clinch.
French shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than French was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Takuvau pushes French away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, French gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. French connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Takuvau some visible discomfort.
Takuvau is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but French has just dragged him back down to the mat. Takuvau tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. French sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. French with the ground and pound from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rolland French dominated that round. The cut man is working on Rolland French's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Takuvau throws a body punch but French moves out of range. French misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Takuvau bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps French's head backwards. French forces Takuvau back against the cage and clinches. Takuvau manages to break the clinch.
Takuvau looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Takuvau backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks French's temple! It sends French violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Takuvau celebrates and the doctors try to help French!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Flying Knee). Tua Takuvau!
