The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pettis circles away from the clinch attempt.
Thomas moves out of range as Pettis strikes.
Thomas tries to clinch up but Pettis circles away and keeps his distance.
Pettis throws a head kick that misses
and Thomas counters with a head kick. That will keep Pettis thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Thomas stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Thomas wants it to stay on the feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Thomas shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pettis sprawls well. Pettis wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Thomas gets slowly back to his feet.

Thomas shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pettis manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Pettis holds on and takes a little breather.

Pettis seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Thomas for as long as he can get away with.
Thomas is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Pettis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Pettis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

and Pettis counters with a flying knee that drops Thomas! Pettis dives in and finishes the fight with a flurry of strikes from the mount!
