Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lotas Mauras (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lotas Mauras has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lotas Mauras!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carter has managed to clinch.
Mauras goes for a takedown attempt but Carter pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Carter misses with a double jab

and Mauras counters with a nice double leg into side control. Carter won't be happy with that.
Carter tries to bench press Mauras off him but Mauras keeps the position.
Mauras wants to stand but Carter has his arm trapped.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Carter explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carter throws a nice inside leg kick.
Carter connects with a leg kick. Mauras looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Carter throws a left and a right that both miss

and Mauras counters with a shoot takedown. Carter fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Carter manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Carter breaks from the clinch.
Carter misses with a double jab.
Carter throws a nice looking combination but Mauras bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Mauras takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Carter fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mauras sprawls well initially but Carter persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Carter stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Carter goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Carter misses with a jab, cross combination.
Carter throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Mauras counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Carter manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Mauras looks winded!

Carter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Mauras gets tackled into the cage by Carter. Carter maintains the clinch.

Carter breaks the clinch.
Carter tries a head kick but it misses.
Carter throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Carter rushes Mauras and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Carter's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Carter misses with a right hand

and Mauras counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Carter pushes Mauras off and gets back to his feet.
Carter throws a left and a right that both miss

and Mauras counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Carter's guard now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Carter has his feet on Mauras's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Carter throws a right hand that misses

and Mauras counters with a shoot takedown. Carter fights it but they end up in guard.
Mauras really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Carter bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mauras's guard.
Carter not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Carter gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Mauras is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mauras slips a jab and a cross from Carter.
Carter throws a series of punches but Mauras avoids them all with ease.
Carter throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mauras.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tony Carter will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Carter pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Carter throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Mauras connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Carter throws an off balance right hand

and Mauras counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Carter scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Carter scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Carter is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Mauras's shoulder. That is not cool.
Lotas Mauras has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Carter decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Mauras gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Mauras walks into a jab.

Carter clinches with his opponent.
Carter throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Mauras is looking to take this one to the mat.

Carter breaks from the clinch.
Carter misses with a combination
and Mauras connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Carter throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mauras was covering up waiting for the punch and Carter finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Carter decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mauras, up you get!

Carter manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mauras on his heels. He'll look to pass Mauras's guard now, I'm sure.

Carter stands up and waves to Mauras to follow him.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Carter thows a left - swing and a miss!
Carter feints a jab promting Mauras to slip. Carter then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Mauras slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Carter pushes Mauras up against the cage in a clinch.

Carter breaks from the clinch.

Carter closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mauras did well to prevent Carter getting side control.

Carter postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Mauras to stand up.
Carter lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Carter cracks Mauras with an open hand slap.
Mauras takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Tony Carter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mauras takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Carter throws a nice inside leg kick.
Carter feints a jab promting Mauras to slip. Carter then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Mauras slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Carter shoots in and bounces Mauras off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Carter gets to his feet. Mauras looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Tony Carter is winning the standup battle so far.
Mauras showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Carter.
Mauras is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Carter.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
