The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bell drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Machida is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Bell has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The ground and pound from Bell seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Bell grinds an elbow into Machida's temple.
Machida wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Machida is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Machida looks gassed!
Bell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Machida keeps working.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Machida swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Machida tries to clinch but Bell is having none of it.

Bell decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Machida wants to get back to his feet.
Bell passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Machida!
Machida is in a horrible position here. Bell smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Bell lands a big shot there that rocks Machida but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Machida wants to control but Bell is having none of it.

Machida is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bell's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bell's back!
