The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horiguchi jabbing away but nothing is landing.

We've been informed that Horiguchi has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Torres feints and then cracks Horiguchi's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Horiguchi down.

Horiguchi connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Torres momentarily.
Horiguchi throws a shot from downtown. Torres moves away and avoids it.

and Torres counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Torres has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
