The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Ahmed tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ward sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ahmed somewhat.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Ahmed.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Ahmed is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ward has escaped the position, nice work there.
Ahmed is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Ward will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Ahmed goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Ward has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ahmed but great work by Ward.
Ward really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ahmed. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ward tries to stand but Ahmed is controlling his head.
