Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mat Kowalak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, King Tyson!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Michael Johnstone and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tyson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Tyson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kowalak on his heels. He'll look to pass Kowalak's guard now, I'm sure.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Tyson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Kowalak not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Tyson throws an elbow that misses. Kowalak uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Tyson's guard. Nice move by Kowalak!

Tyson looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Kowalak passes into side control.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Kowalak taking a break here but Tyson is having none of it and regains half guard.
Kowalak uses his free foot to push down on Tyson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Tyson.
Tyson really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Tyson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kowalak. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kowalak tries to control but Tyson wriggling away.

Kowalak looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tyson wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Kowalak.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tyson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Tyson holds on for dear life, controlling Kowalak's posture momentarily.
Tyson working to try and regain half guard.

Kowalak throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Tyson has his hands clasped together but Kowalak breaks the hold and Tyson is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Kowalak!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mat Kowalak!
In defeat, King Tyson stepped up to the mic, saying 'sorry to fans and team'.
