Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stanley Emerson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Storm Hull! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Columbo Gatti and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hull throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Emerson was covering up waiting for the punch and Hull finishes the takedown easily into guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Emerson is on top in guard.
Emerson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Emerson clinches up with Hull and pushes him back against the cage. Emerson landing some nice looking knees to the body.

Emerson avoids a wild elbow strike from Hull. Emerson unloads a knee to the mid-section. Hull lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Hull works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Emerson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hull manages to get himself to full guard.
Hull looks winded!
That's one minute gone in the round. Emerson landing some decent shots from guard. Emerson gets to his feet - Hull follows without any prompting. Emerson rushes Hull and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Emerson is stalling here.
Emerson lands with a right to the head. Hull manages to pull guard.
Emerson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Hull misses with a kick to the body and Emerson counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hull tries to stall but Emerson uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Emerson can't get the takedown.
Emerson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Hull pulls guard effortlessly. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Emerson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Emerson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hull, up you get! Emerson rushes Hull and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Emerson lands a hook that snaps the head of Hull backwards. Emerson tries a body shot but Hull blocks it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Emerson struggles to land a body shot inside as Hull controls his hands.
Emerson wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stanley Emerson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Emerson manages to break the clinch.
Hull throws a good cross that connects.
Storm Hull seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hull feints and as Emerson raises his hands in defense, Hull changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Hull trying to control the position from guard on top but Emerson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hull looking to sit in guard and control but Emerson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Hull working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Emerson.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hull wants to control the position but Emerson says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Emerson is trying for a kimura here. Hull looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Emerson wins by kimura!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Stanley Emerson! In defeat, Storm Hull stepped up to the mic, saying 'He got lucky.'.
