Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Valentin Hadjiev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Werner Van Noorjdick! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hadjiev ducks under a wild hook from Van Noorjdick. Hadjiev steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Van Noorjdick. Van Noorjdick has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Werner Van Noorjdick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hadjiev displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Van Noorjdick throws out the jab. Hadjiev walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. and Hadjiev counters with a shoot takedown. Van Noorjdick fights it but they end up in guard. This has been an exciting period of action! The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Hadjiev connects with a couple of short punches. Hadjiev stops Van Noorjdick from standing up. Van Noorjdick utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Hadjiev has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hadjiev wants to pass the guard but Van Noorjdick is keeping the position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Van Noorjdick can do anything to dispel that myth. Hadjiev missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Van Noorjdick manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Van Noorjdick might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Hadjiev has a takedown stuffed. Hadjiev seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Van Noorjdick throws a jab but it's blocked by Hadjiev. Van Noorjdick throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Hadjiev moves out of range as Van Noorjdick strikes. Hadjiev takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Nice sprawl there from Van Noorjdick as Hadjiev shoots in. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Valentin Hadjiev. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hadjiev shoots for a double leg takedown but Van Noorjdick sprawls well. He's pushed Hadjiev's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Van Noorjdick looks to land a right hand but Hadjiev moved out of range. Van Noorjdick scores with a hook to the body. Hadjiev takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Van Noorjdick pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Van Noorjdick thows a left - swing and a miss! Hadjiev takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Van Noorjdick swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Werner Van Noorjdick is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hadjiev takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Van Noorjdick slaps away a takedown attempt from Hadjiev, before circling back to the center of the mat. Van Noorjdick throws a hook to the side of Hadjiev's head but Hadjiev sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Hadjiev drives through with a takedown into Van Noorjdick's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hadjiev throws a big right hand that misses. Hadjiev is working Van Noorjdick over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Hadjiev scoring with some ground and pound. Valentin Hadjiev overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Van Noorjdick taking some punishment here, with Hadjiev in his half guard. Hadjiev wants to pass to mount but Van Noorjdick is defending the position. Van Noorjdick scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Hadjiev manages to mount him!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The referee warns Van Noorjdick that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Werner Van Noorjdick will probably get the nod - 10:9. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

and Hadjiev counters with a nice double leg into side control. Van Noorjdick won't be happy with that. Hadjiev in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Van Noorjdick is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Hadjiev is controlling him well. Hadjiev lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Hadjiev has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Van Noorjdick! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hadjiev postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Van Noorjdick looks a forlorn figure.
It looks like Werner Van Noorjdick has been cut. Hadjiev is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Van Noorjdick is rocked! Hadjiev putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Van Noorjdick is still in real trouble! Can Hadjiev finish him?

Van Noorjdick seems to have recovered his senses. Van Noorjdick takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Van Noorjdick is bucking up trying to escape but Hadjiev cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Hadjiev loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Van Noorjdick scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Hadjiev land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Hadjiev stands and salutes the crowd.
