PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stefan Schellmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Dandy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jim Dandy told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Stefan Schellmann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jim Dandy!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dandy misses with the combination.

Dandy has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Schellmann is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Schellmann avoids a punch combination nicely.
The fighters circling - Schellmann throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Schellmann seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Dandy clobbers Schellmann with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Schellmann bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Dandy's head.


It looks like Jim Dandy has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dandy lands a jab.
Stefan Schellmann seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Schellmann fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Schellmann throws a hook but Dandy blocks it.
Dandy works the jab nicely.
Schellmann dodges the punch combination from Dandy.
Dandy throws a right hand that Schellmann ducks under and follows up with a left that Schellmann also avoids with ease.
Dandy connects with a body shot.

Dandy lands with an uppercut that bounces Schellmann off the cage and back into range.
Schellmann dodges the punch combination from Dandy.
Dandy tries to close the distance and clinch but Schellmann swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Schellmann cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Dandy slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Schellmann fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dandy avoids it really well and circles away.

Schellmann throws a body punch but Dandy moves out of range.
Schellmann loads up on a big right hand but Dandy slips the punch.
Schellmann cracks Dandy with a right hand to the side of the head.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Schellmann.
Dandy throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Schellmann closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dandy circles away.
Dandy uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Schellmann.

Dandy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dandy slips a straight right by Schellmann.
Schellmann is trying hard to land a takedown here. Dandy sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Dandy lands a glancing blow to the side of Schellmann's head.
Dandy misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Dandy scores with the left hand. Schellmann knows he should have avoided that one.
A lazy left from Dandy finds it's target.
Schellmann tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dandy sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Schellmann somewhat.
Dandy is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Schellmann had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Dandy throws a series of punches but Schellmann moves out of range.
Jim Dandy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Schellmann takes one on the chin but seems OK.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Schellmann. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
A combination from Dandy does no damage.
Dandy misses with the combination.
Schellmann shoots and misses
and Dandy cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Schellmann darts in looking for a takedown but Dandy gets double underhooks and turns Schellmann into the cage.
Schellmann is working for takedown but Dandy is calmly controlling the position for now.
A nice right hand lands inside from Dandy.
Schellmann is trying to pull guard but Dandy has him pressed against the cage.
Schellmann tries to score a body lock takedown but Dandy shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Dandy breaks from the clinch.
Schellmann tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dandy was well out of range. Poor timing from Schellmann.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Dandy lands a head shot.
A punch combination from Dandy misses.
Dandy might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Schellmann shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dandy defends it nicely.
Dandy jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Schellmann takes one on the button.

Oooooh!!! Dandy has knocked Schellmann down with a huge combo! Dandy steps away and waves a wobbly Schellmann back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Stefan Schellmann has been cut.
Schellmann swings widly with a right hand
and Dandy counters with a massive hook, right on the button! He's out cold! Damn, that was naaaaaasty! Hopefully he'll be OK.
