Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ben Askren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Glover Quin!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Askren fails with the takedown.

Askren shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Quin is trying to defend but Askren finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Quin looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Quin has hold of Askren's hands but Askren slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Quin taking some punishment here, with Askren in his half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Askren connects with a nice short shot to Quin's temple.
Askren working over Quin with some ground and pound. Quin looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Askren not doing much here.
Askren seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Quin wants to get back to full guard.
Askren lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
We've been hearing good reports from Askren's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Askren is taking a breather. Quin says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Askren scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Askren works his foot free and advances to mount.
Quin is trying desperately to improve position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A nice elbow there by Askren.


Quin is rocked!
Askren postures up and throws a big right hand. BOOM! Right on the button! Quin is out cold - huge knockout for Askren!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Ben Askren!
Our winner, Ben Askren, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
