Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Juancho Rivera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hank Williams! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Williams shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rivera sprawls well. Rivera wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Williams gets slowly back to his feet. Williams shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rivera as he jumps to the side. Rivera lands a nice leg kick that just misses Williams's sensitive parts. Williams has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Rivera. Rivera connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Rivera tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Williams was well out of range. Poor timing from Rivera. Rivera changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Williams throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Rivera counters with a left to the body. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Williams shoots for a double leg takedown but Rivera sprawls well. He's pushed Williams's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Juancho Rivera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hank Williams. Rivera rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Williams moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Williams looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Williams looks to land a combination but Rivera avoids it well. Williams walks into a jab. Rivera throws a good cross that connects.
Rivera thumps Williams with a low kick. Rivera scores with a leg kick.
Williams looks winded!
That's one minute gone in the round. Williams takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Rivera connects with a body shot that sends Williams's belly button to the back. Rivera stuns Williams with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Williams's coach down at BLKOUT Training Center was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Williams's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Rivera cracks Williams with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
It looks like Hank Williams has been cut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Williams takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
A nice inside leg kick there by Rivera. That's going to slow Williams down. OH! Williams has been rocked by a huge right hand and is in deep trouble! Rivera smells blood and charges in for the finish! Rivera unloads a vicious overhand right and connects to the jaw of Williams sending him face first to the canvas! Unbelievable!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Juancho Rivera!
