The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Atleetti shoots in and drives through. Alavaara sprawls well.
Alavaara feints and then cracks Atleetti's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Atleetti down.
Atleetti darts in looking for a takedown but Alavaara gets double underhooks and turns Atleetti into the cage.
Atleetti wants a takedown but no success here.
Mauri Alavaara has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antti Atleetti.
Atleetti has Alavaara pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Alavaara manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Atleetti blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Atleetti jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Alavaara walks away with a smile on his face. Atleetti gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Atleetti shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Alavaara defends it nicely.
That kick from Alavaara tenderised Atleetti's leg. Atleetti is trying to keep his angry face on.

Atleetti is looking to clinch.
Alavaara tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Atleetti manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Atleetti bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Alavaara's head.
Alavaara bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
No joy there for Atleetti, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Atleetti moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Alavaara forces Atleetti back against the cage and clinches.

Alavaara tries to work over Atleetti's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Atleetti has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Alavaara is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Atleetti is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Alavaara pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Alavaara has Atleetti pressed against the cage.
Alavaara tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Alavaara misses with a hook to the ribs.
Atleetti goes for a takedown attempt but Alavaara pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Atleetti shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Atleetti stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Alavaara to get to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Atleetti crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Alavaara - the referee stops the clock and Atleetti gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Alavaara. Atleetti manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Atleetti shoots in looking for a takedown. Alavaara tries to sprawl out of it but Atleetti keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Alavaara manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Atleetti throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Alavaara fails to land with a series of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Alavaara's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Atleetti throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Alavaara stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Alavaara uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Atleetti.
Alavaara throws a low kick but Atleetti moves out of range easily.

Atleetti has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Alavaara scores with a hook to the body. Atleetti takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Atleetti wants to clinch but Alavaara slips to the side
and Alavaara counters with a nice low kick that buckles Atleetti's knee momentarily.
Alavaara wants to land a leg kick but Atleetti is out of range.
Atleetti changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Alavaara tries to avoid it but Atleetti manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Alavaara to the ground. Alavaara escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Alavaara throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Atleetti sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Atleetti uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Alavaara.
Antti Atleetti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alavaara lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Atleetti throws a lazy right hand but Alavaara sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Atleetti throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Alavaara's waist but Alavaara gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Atleetti off to one side.
