Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, Momoshiro Kitsune! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Julian Reis! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reis is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kitsune sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Kitsune looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Kitsune shoots in looking for a takedown but Reis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kitsune's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Reis keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Kitsune gets the takedown into side control. Reis gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Kitsune winds up and cracks Reis with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Kitsune trying to control the action but Reis is working from the bottom. Kitsune passes to side control. Kitsune looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Kitsune is putting a hurting on Reis here, landing some big shots from side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kitsune working away. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Kitsune is trying to get an arm triangle but Reis is defending well. Reis tries to strike but it doesn't land.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kitsune lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Reis down.
Kitsune cracks Reis with an elbow. That is naaassty. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Reis is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Kitsune working the ground and pound from side control. Kitsune working the head with strikes. Reis is trying to improve his position. Kitsune tries for a kimura but Reis is defending well. Kitsune cracks Reis with a big elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kitsune working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. This has been an exciting period of action! Kitsune tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. You can see the frustration on Reis's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Kitsune in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Kitsune is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Reis knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Kitsune in side control, throwing shots but Reis defends. Kitsune working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Reis regains half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kitsune not landing any meaningful shots this time. Reis gets full guard. Reis is trying to keep Kitsune in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Reis manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Kitsune tries to hold on but Reis postures up. Reis manages to capitalize on a mistake by Kitsune to take his back! Kitsune is keeping busy.
Kitsune covering up well under a barage of strikes. Kitsune tries to escape but Reis has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Kitsune trying to control the action but Reis just sinks the hooks in. Kitsune is in bad spot here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reis lands shots from the back. Reis looking for the choke but no joy. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Reis is cranking Kitsune's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Kitsune! He's tightened the choke and Kitsune is tapping out!
